The board mill of Metsä Board Kyro, founded in 1870, is located in the beautiful scenery of Kyröskoski, Finland. The factory area is vast, and there are many entry gates to the area. In 2012, a remote-controlled access control system from Tolotech was installed onto the area’s barrier, gate and turnstiles.
The factory area sees many occasional visitors. Adding short-term visitors to the access control system that was already in place felt too arduous. For this reason, the gates were fitted with wireless Tolotech access control terminals which can be controlled with any device that has an internet connection.
According to Maintenance Director Seppo Virkkilä, the Tolotech system has made daily work a lot easier. ”Now managers and directors from various units are able to grant visiting rights to their guests. The gates and barriers are far apart, but we are able to control them through a single system, which saves us time and effort”, Seppo says.
Visitors entering and exiting through the turnstiles use PIN codes. For heavy traffic, the gates are opened either automatically with a remote reader or by a phone call made by the driver to the gate.
